Dear Friend in Yoga:

For 20 years, the YogaLife Institute has specialized in training yoga teachers at the 250 and 500 hour levels and beyond. As an long-time established yoga education center, our focus is always on student-centered learning. We spend a lot of time thinking about how students process the information that they are absorbing, and are able to apply it daily life. Personal guidance is offered whenever needed.

All of the YogaLife training programs offer practical ways to connect ancient yoga theories and lifestyle practices in modern life environments. Yoga philosophy and psychology are explored alongside a of variety embodied anatomy, adaptive asana and breathing practices and necessary teaching skills. It is not unusual for people to join training programs for personal growth reasons, but the majority of our 1000+ program graduates are teaching yoga full or part time all over the world.

Our training programs are designed differently, with roots that started with my training at the Yoga Institute of Mumbai, India, integrated during my PhD studies in Yoga at the California Institute of Integral Studies and eventually grew into a variety of full-scale yoga training and speciality programs. As you will soon learn, we are, in many ways, a world apart from other yoga training programs.

Our trainings have changed the lives of thousands of people. Are they the right fit for you? We are here to help you answer that question. Please watch our video and then read on. Inquires are always welcomed!

On behalf of our entire team, we look forward to helping you expand your knowledge and skill set and support your yoga journey.

Looking forward to speaking to you,
Bob Butera

YogaLife Teacher Training: 10 Unique Reasons Why

Established Program: We have been training yoga teachers for more than 20 years. It’s our mission and life purpose to share the classical teachings of yoga with the world and empower students in our trainings to do the same. Our programs are rigorously designed for clear understanding and integration of all the aspects of Yoga over time. We have trained more than 1000 people, who are teaching all over the world.

Classical Lineage: The YogaLife training program has been commissioned by The Yoga Institute of Mumbai in Bombay, India, the oldest established yoga center in the world. The Yoga Institute is where YogaLife founder and program creator Bob Butera studied extensively and in-person with realized master, Dr. Jayadeva Yogendra before pursuing his PhD in Yoga Philosophy at the California Institute of Integral Studies.

Year Long Program with Flexible Schedule: Allow yourself time/space to absorb and apply the comprehensive teachings of Yoga. Open, ongoing enrollment allows you to start whenever you are ready. The training has been engineered to work with your individual and family needs, trainings are offered at accessible times, with a choice of weekday evenings or weekends.

Total In-Depth Lifestyle Approach: Practical applications of Yoga Philosophy and Psychology allow you to integrate a Yoga perspective into everyday life. Through experiential learning you will create a profound understanding of all of the teachings of Yoga (not just asana) and will be inspired to teach from that foundation.

Adaptive Approach to Asana: Just as no two bodies are alike, no two people experience a yoga pose in the same way. Our training takes an adaptive approach to asana, meaning that we explore what is possible in a yoga pose, and purposefully explore a variety of experiences. Many of the practices are inquiry based so that students understand how intention effects experience on a physical, energetic, emotional and spiritual level, and how those experiences relate to each other to create layers of realized self-awareness.

Art of Teaching: Between sequencing theory lectures and ongoing practice teaching sessions, you will hone your ability to effectively guide a variety of classes and levels. Each month of the program goes in-depth to a specific category of poses, where students learn an adaptive approach to observing, sensing, seeing, instructing and assisting movement patterns. Students graduate well prepared to teach a variety of classes and levels of students.

Experiential Anatomy: Work fluidly with both functional and esoteric anatomy alongside compelling cueing language. Be empowered to offer creative, anatomically sound pose experiences. Learn to embody the process via anatomical inquiry and applied understandings. Understand how structural variety and individual anatomy effects the expression of yoga poses so that you can be empowered to creatively problem solve when an anatomical challenge presents itself in a pose or class.

Student Centered Learning & Mentorship: The teachers at YogaLife are engaged with and supportive of your process. We are available to answer your personal questions and check in often to see how you are integrating what you are learning in the training. Whenever possible, we work with you to engineer the learning you are doing in the program in a way complement your personal interests and professional goals.

Supportive Yoga Community: We create an environment of introspection and community that allows you to connect deeply with yourself and others. Learning happens through relationship and processing with others who have similar interests and experiences. The connections that are forged in Teachers Training often turn into long-term friendships.
