The Why
Come gather with us in the wilds of Playa Hermosa de Jaco at the beautiful Vida Asana retreat center. Together we will celebrate the healing power of yoga in nature and explore how the mind body connection extends to our experience of nature as a generative force. Healthy food, movement, philosophical discussion and heart centered community will be at the center of the daily retreat experience.
A variety of healing practices will be explored with YogaLife senior teachers Bob and Kristen Butera and Erika Tenenbaum that weave a tapestry of interconnectedness between the inner self and outer surroundings. Through deep listening, contemplation, movement, relaxation, breathwork and guided visualization experiences in nature we will explore how practicing yoga, meditation and mindfulness in a natural setting allows us to bypass the intellectual mind and experience a more embodied and elemental connection to the earth and the essence of life itself.
Ample free time will be provided to enjoy the beauty of the retreat center swimming pool and the famous black sand beaches of Playa Hermosa. Bikes are provided as part of the experience and during down time there is the option to book a private yoga therapy, massage or energy healing session. An excursion to a private conservation park, butterfly habitat restoration project, reflective walks in secluded rock and river formations, and a night out in town are also included.

Please Note
• Airfare is not included. Must book separately. See below for flight recommendations out of Philadelphia International Airport.
Optional Activities
• Additional excursion activities are available for an extra fee i.e. horseback riding, zipline, surf lessons etc.
• Private Yoga Therapy, Massage and Reiki sessions are also available for an extra fee.
Flight Details and Airport shuttle: A group shuttle will be organized for pickup at San Jose (SJO) airport on January 22 and dropoff on January 29, we recommend booking a flight that arrives before 1:30 PM on January 22 and a flight that departs after 12 PM on January 29th. When you book your flight, you will need to send us your flight info (airline company, date and arrival time) to help us coordinate efforts.
Some folks might want to arrive ahead of time or stay after to explore the country further. If that is the case, you may need to make your own transport arrangements to get to Vida Asana.
We have heard that some folks like to arrive in San Jose on Saturday, stay near the airport that night and meet up with shuttle at the airport on Sunday for transport down to Playa Hermosa. That is also an option.

Refund Policy and Travel Requirements
As of April 2022, Costa Rica no longer requires vaccination, a QR code, or the purchase of a health insurance policy to enter the country.
There are no refunds for this event. We recommend purchasing travel insurance to cover the costs in the event of an emergency. We recommend Trawick International https://www.trawickinternational.com/
As of April 2022, the US is requiring all travellers entering the US to have proof of a negative covid test 72 hours before departure. If this requirement is still in place, an extra fee for a covid test may be necessary before returning to the US.
